OUR TREE PLANTINGS

"Congratulations Food for Trees on a fine example of businesses and consumers thinking globally and acting locally."

The Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority is proud to be able to manage the on-ground planning and operations for Food for Trees.

We are delighted to have the support of Melbourne’s restaurant/café and food industry to help us with a number of crucial tree planting projects.

  • Tree planting and natural resource management in the Yarra Valley to improve water quality and biodiversity in this area known for its local produce.
  • Planting habitat (tree) links across the landscape east of Melbourne in the Bunyip River area that flows into Westernport Bay.
  • Establishing an environmental corridor across the urban landscape of Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs from which water flows into Port Phillip Bay.

The contribution of Food for Trees members will be quickly turned into meaningful habitat rehabilitation in key locations.

We thank the Melbourne restaurant/café and food industry for its practical and innovative leadership in demonstrating corporate social responsibility on the issue of climate change, and we look forward to working with Food for Trees members to create a healthier and cleaner Melbourne catchment.

Yours sincerely,

David Buntine
